Internally isolated laundry systems boost medical laundry safety.

　During the pandemic, it was generally recognized that cases of infection originating from the laundry room of a certain public security bureau were linked to clothing and followed a transmission pathway involving “conditional aerosol transmission.” As anyone familiar with product design knows, the internally interconnected tunnel-type washing equipment precisely meets the conditions for “conditional aerosol transmission.” Therefore, isolation doors should be installed separately between each stage—pre-wash, main wash, rinse, and neutralization—to break the internal connections between the upstream and downstream sections. Only in this way can the isolation requirements stipulated in WS/T508-2016 be met, thereby eliminating the potential risks associated with using this equipment for medical laundry.
　　Following the successful development of an integrated, fully automated washing production line for hygienic isolation, Shandong Dacheng has now developed a medical tunnel-type washing unit equipped with isolation doors to prevent cross-infection. This innovative design has been granted a patent. The laundry tunnel featuring isolated chamber doors achieves physical separation between internal processing stages, thereby avoiding the awkward situation in conventional laundry tunnels where dirty items from the initial pre-wash compartment and clean items from the final rinse compartment share the same space. This truly enables compliance with the isolation requirements stipulated in WS/T 508-2016 through physical separation. Compared to high-speed rotating double-door washing machines, the technology required for designing low-speed-operating laundry tunnels with separate chamber doors is significantly less challenging. We believe that even more groundbreaking new technologies will continue to emerge in the future.
　　The hygienic isolation integrated fully automatic washing production line is a fully automated washing system consisting of 10 front-loading, top-entry washing machines. It achieves unmanned operation, and there’s an isolation wall between the two doors. The equipment has been in continuous use for five years.

Since the release of WS/T508-2016, which introduced the requirement for “hygienic isolation,” Chinese engineers were the first to develop and put into operation an integrated, fully automated washing production line for hygienic isolation. The newly emerging medical tunnel-type washing equipment equipped with isolation doors to prevent cross-infection is yet another significant contribution.
